Semester 1 Unit Review

Semester Final

Students will have a major test on January 31st. It will cover the whole year, but it will be weighted toward the final unit on genetics since there will be no other test on that unit.
January 25th and 27th will be dedicated to in class review and I will have review material for them then.

They should start reviewing earlier, by going through their old notebooks, quizzes and tests and trying to determine what they don't remember.

The format will be similar to their other major tests - some multiple choice and some paragraph length answers.

Weeks 15 and 16 notebook and goals

Due to odd schedules because of MLK day and my expected absence on 1/19, students will have their next quiz and notebook check on Tuesday January 17. I gave them some review material today, Tuesday, January 10. The goals which the test will cover are below.

Goals
1. Use the vocabulary: gene, allele, meiosis, zygote, gamete, diploid, haploid, crossing over, dominant, recessive, genotype, phenotype, homozygous, heterozygous.
2. Describe what happens during the phases of meiosis.
3. Describe how genetic variation is introduced in meiosis and sexual reproduction.
4. Use Punnet Squares to determine the genotype and phenotype of offspring

As you see there is homework due Thursday the 12th and Tuesday the 17th.

The weeks have covered chapters 11 and 12.
